AIA DC - In/Visible Borders Design Competition
Won honorable mention in a design competition organized by AIA -DC Urban Design Committee.
In/Visible Borders Design Competition challenged to propose a solution that enhanced spatial equity along with a specific border condition.
My project ‘Urban Utopia : A Culture to be Preserved’ speaks about creating a cultural edge between a UNESCO site known for historic cultural farming, Xochimilco, and the urbanized area towards south in Mexico City to safeguard the serene lands of Xochimilco. The edge builds a perforated edge between preserved cultural floating farming and urbanized area using expanded water bodies and lakes, new experimental floating farming and existing farms, and new cultural communities.

Our Project "Culture - NEST : Symbiosis of Habitats" is a combination of various habitats thriving in symbiotic accordance. This blend is achieved by development of enclaves based of anchor placements. Koliwada has existing anchors like Worli Fort and would have proposed anchors like water transit. This placement would give rise to inter-dependency of functions and activities. In this design, various financial classes not just live as one community but bring a coherent culture of strong rationale by creating a robust fabric of dwelling units, open spaces, shared spaces, park system, cultural zones, educational zones, ecological edge for reducing flooding and power generation using tidal energy.
